Where the Wild Things Are. Dear god was that a terrible movie. All of the characters were so hateful and odd. We weren't the only ones to leave the theater; lots of other families did too.

I watched the Nostalgia Critic video on it and he said you're supposed to view the movie as if everything was being made up by a kid, but I've seen children's writing and heard children tell stories and none of them are as mean-spirited and weird as this movie.

Holy crap, everything you've said here. I actually sat all the way through it and left feeling like my guts had been scooped out.

That movie ruined the book entirely. Fuck that movie.

How were the characters hateful or odd, exactly? How was it mean-spirited? I haven't seen the movie, so I'm curious.

Late reply to this, but basically all of the monsters reacted to things in ways a normal person wouldn't have. I've purged my mind of the majority of the movie, but I remember the monsters bullied each other for no reason and spoke to each other with disgust that was unfounded. It was nothing like how I remembered the children's book.
