Oh, I gotta disagree there. The writers didn't do much with him, but Jeremy did a great job portraying him as a sarcastic but well meaning guy.

I cannot remember a single scene about him. And the stuff I might remember, might be from fics or that SNL sketch he ddi.

No, he didn't. Renner is why MCU Clint is so unmemorable. An already nothing role exacerbated by a blandest of the bland actor.

I've seen a lot of arguments that he's one of the most successful out of the Avengers cast, however, being a background character in various successful franchises isn't an indicator of talent, it's being lucky/having good connections.
