It's not even about that. I'm basically fine with the OP's opinion - I mean, I disagree with it entirely, but I don't think it's any kind of persecution. That's just silly. But then you have a whole bunch of people coming in and insisting on totally misinterpreting the secret so that they can defend the viewpoint in ways they otherwise couldn't, and that just bothers me.

In other words, it's not because I'm cis. It's because I'm a pedant.

Yes! This, exactly!

Although it could just be one person, or a few people, reinterpreting the secret in a lot of different places.

...And it's possible that the reinterpretation is what the OP meant -- it's just not what they said.

DA--and since it would be guessing, and putting words in OP's mouth, to talk about what they *meant*--I'm going with the theory they said what they meant in the first place. Which, ouch, but as a cis writer who might consider writing a trans character, I probably needed to see this.
