Excuse me whilst I laugh myself silly. I was there,mate. It had EVERYTHING to do with image and appearance: and shock factor and adolescent self-regard.

it was a politically motivated movement and these assholes didn't actually care about politics. they may as well have competed on a reality show for their spots in the band.

Oh, honey. At least you're anon here, but in general life will be a lot nicer for you if you refrain from speaking about subjects unless you actually know what you're talking about. For purposes of enlightenment, you may want to look up who the Sex Pistols' manager was and where they hung out in their early days. You may also want to question why, if punk has nothing to do with image and appearance, the clothing/dress was so deliberately unconventional, albeit all in the same way.
