I was so relieved when Sting confirmed it was supposed to be creepy--as a teenager I found it chilling and then wondered if there was something wrong with *me.*

Yeah, he pretty much said in an interview that he is completely baffled about those people who keep using that song in romantic situations. It was never intended to be anything else than a creepy stalker song.
