I always felt in the middle of the two factions. I read the first two and found they were real page-turners, but then afterwards I kind of went "Wait...there are many problems with these books." So I can see why people like or dislike them.

Haters that go overboard are the worst though. I was in Harry Potter fandom online from around GOF release and shipped Harry/Hermione. Oh boy, the things people felt they could say to me just because they didn't agree with what I chose to ship. My line was always "I don't think this will happen in the books but I prefer the idea." but people woulds say horrible things. I understand some Harry/Hermione shippers were unbearable about it - I don't excuse that. But the rest of us copped it from some (only some, I know) of the R/Hr shippers who felt justified because their ship was canon.
