There doesn't necessarily have to be a weird creepy bubble -- you can just get off on incest as a kink. But if you're distressed by the fact that you keep reading porn that you don't like and which you disagree with and the only reason you keep reading is because you're in a weird enabling feedback loop that screws up your perspective, rather than healthily indulging a kink, that's bad.

It is a thing that happens you know. We hear a lot about guys who get addicted to porn and keep obsessively seeking out creepier and more hardcore porn because they're in a mental porn bubble - which doesn't mean every guy who watches porn does it that way. There's no reason it can't apply to smutty fanfic too. There's certainly enough of it and it's certainly psychologically powerful enough.

Not necessarily about incest, but there is definitely a danger of getting sucked into a kink you don't even like, because the first fic you read for it hit another kink you do have along the way, or it was particularly well written, or all your friends are into it, or it's the first smut you came across and you don't know better.

The relief of getting out of it has nothing to do with the kink itself, just that it was never really your thing.
