I had a classmate with down's syndrome. she was a fucking weird obnoxious brat. I don't think all people her age with down's syndrome are that way, but having a disorder that makes you talk louder, be generally more expressive (not least because you need to, because otherwise people wouldn't understand you), and tend to not get the idea of subtlety pretty much will make you an obnoxious brat in everybody's eyes at that age. I think it's fairly realistic.
