Prior to reading this secret I wasn't even aware there were people who watched these shows and believed them. I should've known better, of course, but it hardly ever occurred to me.

Possibly because I have this picture in my mind where the target audience of shows about the supernatural are fans of the genre who are normally pretty tongue-in-cheek about it, while the true tinhatters watch nutty TV "documentaries" about aliens instead.
