Sometimes I have the urge to read over dramatic, shameless self-insert ID fic like My Immortal. But, like, the ones where the author seemed to have tried and had decent writing skills? I dunno why. When I'm in the lazy Sunday afternoon kind of mood, bad AUs and the lot feel good.

I actually have a link to a gigantic fic set in the Sherlock Holmes canon 'verse that's just like this. It's horrifying. A Mary Sue OC main character, lots of domestic abuse the author is convinced isn't abuse, undertones of paedophilia in one of the latest chapters, no plot. BUT the author has some fairly decent writing skills. Also, references to Goethe. It's gold. I have no idea how it came into existence.

(but IDK if you're into Sherlock Holmes).

You can tell from the title that it's going to be good. And it's mind-boggling how many people actually like it.
