I volunteer in a charity second-hand bookshop. Meaning: the books are ridiculously cheap and almost every penny you spend is going to a good cause. (The books are donated, but obviously rent and electricity need to be paid)

I'm in charge of the English lit section and most of the paperbacks are 2€. Really new books, hardcovers, non-fiction, those can all be a bit more expensive, but you can still buy an entire stack of books and be cheaper off than if you'd gone to a regular store and bought one new book. And it's for charity.

And still, still, people will frown and say it's a bit much for second-hand and can they get a discount? I always remind them it's for a good cause, but that does surprisingly little.

I'm just sharing this because the tone of that message reminds me very much of those customers and *ugh*

I was shocked when I first heard that people haggle in charity shops. Why don't they buy somewhere else second hand if they want to haggle so much and don't care about helping others?

But then, people still charity money from tins as well. It's appalling.
