OP

Sorry, her meeting her father was in the promo for the ep, so I didn't think it counted as a spoiler.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2014-12-14 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't, not even slightly. DP is overreacting, as usual.

If you think a simple "a spoiler tag would have been nice" in response to something that would have taken just three or four seconds to be courteous about is overreacting, I'd hate to see how you respond to peoples' reactions to bigger issues.

DA

The WHOLE COMM comes with a spoiler warning, wtf more do you want?

Re: OP

What do YOU want? For everyone who is behind on a show to just...not read F!S for however long it takes them to catch up, because you (or someone else) are too lazy to post a spoiler warning?

Actually, that probably is what you want. In which case we are at an impasse, anon.

Re: OP

Why should it be everyone else's responsibility to cater to you?

If you want to avoid something, then the onus is on you to take responsibility for yourself and do so, not on the rest of the world to pause or walk on eggshells until you deem it's okay for them to continue.

Re: OP

That's really dramatic.

It's not anyone's responsibility to do anything. It is a COURTESY to add a spoiler warning to spoilery secrets. Those are the ones that get posted every Friday. Do you think the OPs of those secrets bent over backwards to "cater" to anyone? It literally just takes a few seconds. It's not a huge amount of effort at all. No walking on eggshells involved.

If you don't want to add a spoiler warning because you're above it or it's too much trouble, just say so. Nobody is asking for anything world-changing here.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2014-12-14 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
No, dramamtic is going into a community and a thread where you're fully aware there may be spoilers and expecting your preferences to be catered to, to the point where your very first comment on the thread was to complain about it.

If you enter an environment where you're aware there are things that you don't want to see, then the onus remains on you to take personal responsibility for that. This is a forum where spoilers exist. If you choose to read it knowing that information upfront then it's disingenuous to complain about it afterwards. Your self-centred attitude seems to revolve on "But they could have said it was a spoiler!" when the very act of posting something here assumes that those reading are already aware that there may be. Which you are.

There are spoilers here. You're fully aware of that. Whether you take the risk is on you, not on the secret posters to cater to you.

I've posted one secret on this comm, one that wasn't fandom specific. If I did ever post one that did, then no I wouldn't go out of my way to add to the warnings because the community already does so.

"expecting your preferences to be catered to"

lol, no. That's like saying if I asked someone to not post a really long comment at the beginning of a thread so it will collapse that it's "catering to" my preferences. It's not about any one person's preference; it is, once again, common comm courtesy.

If you think posting a spoiler tag on a secret is "going out of your way" you must be unusually lazy. Literally all you have to do is write:

"spoilers for [fandom]"

under the secret. It's considerably less trouble than making the secret and it's considerably less trouble than writing this comment in defense of inconsiderate laziness. This is like the online community version of tearing the couch apart to look for the remote instead of just walking up to the TV to change the channel.

AYRT

THEY DID POST A FUCKING SPOILER WARNING.

The WHOLE COMM comes under the umbrella of a spoiler warning.

How is that so fucking hard for you to understand, huh, Special Snowflake?

Did you read the comment I replied to? Did you read the rest of the thread? I'm not the one being really angry here.

How long ago did the promo come out though? I think it's still pretty recent. Probably a good idea to tag for stuff that came out in the last couple of months if possible.

I'm not that upset overall - the secret was a minor spoiler. Don't sweat it :)

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2014-12-14 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
There is no requirement to tag anything. You can post a secret without spoiler tags on the same night it airs, because it is covered by the general secrets disclaimer. DP, you just want everyone else to take action so your life can continue without you ever doing something. That is entitlement at its finest. Spoilers happen, learn to live with it.

Re: OP

[personal profile] diet_poison 2014-12-15 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
I never said it's a requirement. Where are you reading that?

You can post a secret without spoiler tags the night something airs, but it's a douche move.

And you're making quite a claim about me when you don't know anything about me beyond this comm. Seriously, you aren't in my head and you don't know what I want. Considering the ridiculous nature of your assertion, and considering you posted this in response to the comment where I told OP not to sweat it, I have an inkling this is less about your lack of care about whether you spoil anybody, and more about wanting to be upset specifically at me.

Re: OP

It's not compulsory, you just think everyone's gotta do it.

Re: OP

[personal profile] diet_poison 2014-12-15 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
For stuff that was released very recently I think it's a douche move to know something is spoilery (which OP actually didn't, so it was a mistake his time) and not include a spoiler warning.
