Make sure the temperature is right and doesn't make the tea burn. Black tea and green tea have different steeping temperatures. If I use scalding water on green tea, I'd get a bitter taste so I started sweetening it with honey. When I use less scalding water, I don't need the honey.

I understand you're probably trying to avoid sugar, but sugar/honey might help with the taste. Other flavors to try adding would be squeezing a lemon or pouring a little bit of milk to it.

Personally, I'm a fan of the mint teas for their flavors.
