Re: People who drink tea!

If you've been a habitual soda drinker, and presumably other sweet things, then you are in trouble. Teas, even fruit ones, fall more on the bitter-sharp spectrum of tastes. You'll need to completely retrain your tastebuds in order to appreciate it. I suggest cutting all sweeteners out of your diet, or only using a small touch of natural high quality honey if you need one, and buy as good quality tea as you can. Its a drink for sipping too, not gulping like soda is. Tea is not a soda replacement, for that you want mineral water. Tea is a sip and savour drink, you need to hold small sips of it in your mouth to let the flavours come out.

It'll take quite some time for your tastebuds to adapt, and in all honesty, if you've been a lifelong soda drinker they may never fully do so.

It's not as hopeless as all that. Plenty of people worldwide drink both soda and tea, and OP has quit drinking soda anyway.

It's more like comparing dairy milk and almond milk. If you're expecting almond milk to be an exact substitute for dairy milk, it's not going to work. It can serve a lot of the same purposes, and can be enjoyed on its own merit, but you're not going to be able to trick yourself into thinking almond milk is really dairy.
