I've seen it used in completely different contexts like

- I think that artist is talented, but she drawn m NOTP, so ew.

- I went to read a ship about my OTP, but the had m NOTP as side characters, so I bailed out of there!

(I think we just run indifferent circles, then).

But that would be a very good reason to back button. Doesn't everyone have certain pairings they go out of their way to avoid?

It dunno

For example, I'm not a fan of Thorki but i genuinely saw nice art for it that I possible even reblogged.

Say if I was reading a Stucky fic, and someone mentioned five lines about Thorki I'd been like "whatever" and not give up on the whole fic.

But tastes do differ - it's just the people that are really vocal about how something is BAD because it has their notp that I usually find a bit childish.

Often, if you dig deep enough, you find that people's hatred of a pairing or character has something to do with it reminding them of a bad thing that happened in their own lives. So I'm inclined to give them a little leeway, especially if these people are young and haven't developed enough self-reflection to be able to process things like that.

I agree that excessive complaining is annoying, though. It sounds like wah-wah-why doesn't everyone think exactly as I do? That's not confined to NOTPs though.

I know several people like this in real life. They're often bullies, self-centered and insecure.

It is entirely possible I've been running into a lot of those.

Noping the hell out of something that contains surprise incest isn't unreasonable. Not wanting to engage with something containing incest, period, isn't childish. Thorki isn't some inoffensive ship that people hate for no particular reason, and unless this was just an incredibly unfortunate choice of top-of-the-head examples, you should probably crawl out of the fannish rabbit hole a little and reconsider whether or not calling people childish for wanting to avoid something that can be legitimately upsetting is remotely reasonable.

Noping the hell out of it is not unreasonable. However, posting and whining about how horrible it is that this even exists and that people even put it in fic or art...I do find that a bit childish.

And, I don't like incest, either. However if you're playing the "fandom" card - it's play pretend incest.

I like that phrasing - "Play pretend incest".
