Smee and Mr. Darling being the same was the only thing that bothered me. Mr. Darling and Hook are supposed to be the same actor, it's why Wendy goes with him (more or less), because he reminds her of her father.

I'm assuming they didn't go that route because they realized that having Walken play Mr.Darling would be unignorably ridiculous. However, it kind of worked for me once I remembered that Smee's the pirate that all little children love in spite of his best efforts to be intimidating.

Yeah I think in his own version of Neverland Mr Darling would actually be Smee rather than Hook.
