Sometimes we have friending memes but nothing really comes of it as far as I've seen. The problem is you've got to put in effort to make friends, and people are really bad about that in my experience because they are shy or whatever. (I used to put in a lot of effort, which is why I made a few friends, but I've gotten both lazy and too busy lately to keep up.)

Yeah, this. I participated in a friending meme a little bit ago and came out with loads of new friends, but I can already tell the ones who aren't going to work out because they never comment on any of my posts and they don't reply when I comment on theirs. :(

I'm not sure fandom secrets is the best place for friending memes anyway. The whole attraction of fs is that it's a quick and low commitment way of discussing fandom.

Friendship takes both work and commitment.
