I like the people in my fandoms, and even admire some of them, I just don't particularly want to make friends with any of them. I prefer to make one or two friends in real life, talk a lot to them, and have everyone else in my life at the level of acquaintances.

I see fandom "friends" more as colleagues, the same way as I'd deal with those at work. You only interact because you have a shared connection (the fandom or the work). It's nice to be pleasant and chat, but I feel nothing else, sorry.

This is why f_s is perfect for fandom chat. There's not the baggage of having to "friend" or "follow" anyone. It's particularly bad on LJ because of that friending terminology.
