There's a friending meme that comes around now and then where people list their fandom interests and trade tumblrs and so on, I dunno how those usually work out. It's a bit tricky, I can squeal with people here over lots of fandoms, but it's hard to keep it up (though I take full responsibility for being inconsistent and awkward sometimes).

I had decent luck with friending memes back in the LJ heyday, but not as much luck with Tumblr. Probably because it doesn't foster the community feel that LJ does, and it's also more "open" and public.

Doesn't help that trying to communicate privately with tumblr's format is extremely difficult and a shot in the dark sometimes. I have to trade email addresses with anybody I actually want to talk to reliably.

I had zero luck with the fs friending meme. Fandom-specific friending memes tend to work out better, in my experience.
