Wowza, you have very little empathy or imagination, don't you? For example, having a medical condition that means you can't leave the house without help is "wallowing in a life of horror and abuse"?

You do realize that not everyone is lucky enough to have the option of so-called "real life" that other people take for granted? In fact, there are a lot of people in this situation.

nayrt

so this means you have zero contact with other humans, ever? food just magically appears out of thin air, you do all your own cleaning (or else live in a landfill), every blood relation you have is horrible and abusive and you've cut them out of your life, you never went to school or made any friends while you were there...? And your windows are painted over, you never go outside, you don't even get to the doctor? Really?

DA No, they are being far more positively helpful than you are. The idea that there is only fandom or nothing is incredibly naive, unhealthy and self-defeating an encouraging people to just keep plugging at it with no reward is not empathetic at all, it's just daft and shows massive lack of imagination and indeed of rational thought. Even if one only has the internet (which, frankly, I really, really doubt, almost no one is that cut off), there are scores of ways to connect that are not fandom related.
