That is far from the only example in MGS. The whole series is completely full of male sexualisation. I love it.

It's far from the only example in Free! as well, but that's a lot more tame than MGS.

MGS should be excluded from these sort of conversations, because it's literally just... I've had some very hetero dudebros feel vaguely uncomfortable while playing the series.

No, this is precisely why it shouldn't. The over-the-top gayness in, say, the "ballet" scene in MGSIV is what Bayonetta is the female couterpart to. (And I also see Hetero Dudebros become uncomfortable when playing Bayonetta.)

Free also has dudes working out or taking a shower showing their muscles in all their glory.

We need more animes like that.

My personal favourite example is Lee Byung-Hun as Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe movies. The amount of times he loses his shirt in the most stupidly hilarious ways is amazing.

Also: He might not be naked but damn, Nightwing's ass shots are definitely not there as a male power fantasy.

Pretty much anything involving Liquid Snake in the first MGS-- not only does he never wear a shirt (I don't care how heavy that trenchcoat is or how "battle-hardened" he is, it can't be comfortable to be standing in snow like that) but in the endgame he ditches the trenchcoat too!

...and for some reason deemed it appropriate to remove the top of Snake's sneaking suit. Don't know why, but totally not complaining.

Also I want to add the ending of Xenogears. Fei and Krelian (and Elly too, but...) being naked makes NO freaking sense in the context of that scene. NONE. And yet, they are. Granted, with Ken doll anatomy, but the camera seems to like showing their bare butts. (Elly is an unusual case-- you would think for being a female character they'd have MORE reason to show her, but every cutscene that involves her being naked have obscured her body either by camera angles, conveniently-placed lens flares or just... extremely strange glow effects. The best you get is her relatively low-detailed ingame sprite and even then the camera turns around her pretty quickly so all you really get to see is her hair.) I don't think I've ever seen confirmation either way, but I'd like to think that "SUDDENLY, MAN-BUTT" was thrown in for lulz and fan service. I mean, that game was already crossing all kinds of lines with its religious content, what's a couple naked men going to hurt? :P
