wat. What straight dude wants gratuitous shots of shirtless men or man ass? It seems like you're looking for a reason to not consider that fanservice for women.

I think the issue is the fact that while, yes, those particular scenes in MCU are likely directed at women as you say, the movies in their entirety are not. In their entirety, they are male power fantasies that happen to contain some eye candy for women. In fanservicey anime the women EXIST to be eye candy. It's not the same thing as a few scenes in an otherwise, male-centric movie.

Just because the entire movie isn't shirtless guys doesn't make it any less fanservice. It's the same the other way too. Movies that sexualize women aren't just about that, right? There is still a plot or other characters going on. You can't just cherry pick.

Sometimes I think people just say women are more sexualized because they think women should hide their bodies and act like they don't have sexuality at all. Literally nobody ever complains when a sweaty guy takes of his shirt to reveal his muscular body when he's working on the engine in his car. I've seen scenes like that too many times to count.

This! A lot about super heroes being fit and muscled has to do with male power fantasy. But with the way they're filmed in the MCU there is also intentional female-gaze fanservice.

Well, not in the examples cited in the secret, though.
