I kind of liked the first season. It had an interesting premise. I didn't know there even was hate (though there wasn't a lot there to get particularly worked up over).

However, I would love for someone to explain to me how clothes work in the PP universe. Are they wearing some kind of standard beige uniform (top and skirt/pants) that the hologram alters visually somehow?

I ask for smut-writing/reading purposes (because that's where my mind goes). Say Akane has a really frilly long dress as her hologram outfit. If someone went to take it off... just how?

My headcanon is that there's normal clothing, but most people use mostly holograms because it's more convenient and what they use under the hologram depends on each person.

But maybe there's an actual explanation in the novel? So someone who has read it can answer that better.
(I remember someone was posting stuff from the novels (both summaries of the chapters and details on the universe), but I lost the link, sorry)

Not sure if this was the translations you were thinking of? Found it in a quick search. It's only the first two I believe

I guess from information I remember I would think you'd have to have a high tech hacker to remove the holo clothes against the wearers wishes. And it's not something anyone would just regularly do because it would raise their crime coefficient, and they'd be judged by Sybil. So I feel like if someone was removing the clothes forcibly they'd have to have a dark hue, or be an altered white hue.

But if there was a holo/AI glitch (for whatever reason) then the clothes, apartment holo decorations, their livelihoods (since they keep all their business info and etc in the AI) would be gone and they would be SOL. And no one would need a hue change.

Also from past I'm not sure if they wear a clothes base, but it's possible. I don't remember them ever showing them wearing clothing bases when changing clothes, but I do remember from a few of the crime scenes they did have actual furniture and just used a holo decoration to make it look like different places & etc. And we did see a lot of after shower scenes with underwear on, so they do wear that at least.

You seem to think worse of it than the haters XD

But IMO the second season wasn't as bad as some people say and I have started to like it more in retrospective (I'm even planing to watch it again and I rarely do that).

The first season was still better though, but I'm still looking forward to the movie.

No, come on OP, S2 is wayyy worse. If S1 was trying too hard then S2 isn't even trying at all; it creaks with its own lack of any purpose beyond 'fill time while we wait for the movie'. I'd have been fine with a shambles if it was at least an ambitious shambles...

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I prefer shows that don't even try over shows that try hard and fail miserable. There's nothing worse than great potential wasted.

It's alright. You know, I mostly find it boring though (both seasons). Too much technical babble and technical talk and I find it hard to keep up. That's just me though.

The plotlines are simpler, the characters less defined and explored, and the emphasis significantly shifted towards action.

It just doesn't match the heights of season one. Maybe this is because of the short season, but really I think it's more the lack of the Butcher. Still very much looking forward to the film.

S1 was a huge disappointment for me so I wasn't expecting anything from S2. Maybe that's why I'm enjoying it so much.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just not interested anymore because almost all the characters I liked are dead and gone.

More like I don't get the love.

Psycho-Pass is just a typical dystopian police procedural, with rather simplistic, poorly written characters, and a really cartoonish villain. He was a pretentious hipster that could only name drop and quote other people instead of embracing actual free thought or coming up with his own ideas.
Similarly, Psycho Pass borrowed a bit too much from other syfy/dystopia works to truly be considered original.

Everything it did has been done and done better. The shitty animation quality just contributes to it's already numerous flaws.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
why...why spell that "syfy"? :|

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
You sound like a pretentious hipster yourself.

Agreed about him, though.

DA

Shit, is this what passes for prententiousnes now? A personal opinion?

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
All anime has been done to death. Hell, everything is being done to death with crappy remakes, reboots, and reiterations. Fans of any kind will always forget the old and fixate on the new. So I don't get why you're surprised if you have the ideal of "done and done better", since that applied to generally 90% of the tripe out there that is popular.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I feel so weird, cause while I liked the first season, I'm actually enjoying the second season more? I can't really explain why.
Maybe it's also because I'm not as attached to Kogami as most of fandom seems to be. I prefer Akane and Gino and am looking forward to seeing Kogami again one day for THEIR reactions.

I do have to say that the new Inspector is hella annoying, BUT I also appreciate that kind of? Otherwise it would be Akane redux.

The one thing I'm a bit iffy about is Togane. I'm one of the few who actually kind of likes him or rather the idea of him (and his character design), but they're making him too stereotypical EVOL right now and that's just boring. I was kinda hoping that he was more complicated than that (also fuck his mother tbh).

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
I think 70% percent of the hate is because Kogami is not there. I'm surprised that there is this level of butthurt for a character missing. I don't see what's so special about Kogami for all this fandom uproar.

Yeah I was hoping for more from Togane other than grandma killer who's deepest desire is to paint someone black. I guess at the very least I'm hoping for some 11th hour change up where we find out he's rouge double agent working for Kamui and hates his mother. But I feel like we just get this dipshit who's a psycho puppy killer mama's boy.

Kogami is a terrible and flat character tbh. I got really attached to him during the first episodes, he seemed like such a complex and interesting character. His dog/detective conflict was so interesting, but that only lasted the first 3 or 4 episodes, then he became "muh revenge, muh Sasayama, kill Makishima".

I don't agree with your thoughts on the first season, outside of the accusation that it was pretty ridiculous--- because yeah, it sort of is. I still loved the hell out of it though.

That being said, the hate for the second season is unwarranted and over the top. I actually get a little bit of second hand embarrassment looking at Hope Chapman's reviews every week. No, it's not as good as the first season. Yeah it does have more stupidly gory for the shock factor scenes. Yes, the characters aren't as fleshed out. Yes it has the subtlety of a jack hammer (although the first season isn't particularly subtle, this one beats that). But it's enjoyable enough, and it doesn't diminish the original canon (nor does it contradict it). The season characters are kept intact and not mischaracterized, and if anything it's basically a filler season before the movie, so if it offends you that much, just skip it.

IA The hate for season two is OTT. I think it mostly stems from the butthurt reaction of Kogami stans. The way those fans go on every week when he's not there and then have melt downs when he shows up as visions gives me such secondhand embarrassment.

Well that and people got a hate boner for this the second Urobutcher wasn't involved in this and made that shitty quote about how not to hate him for the writing this season, and all the character deaths because it's this seasons writers fault.

I also think it was the gore factor that solidified the hate. There was some on season one, but mostly tame and censored stuff. I don't know why this gore hate has become such a thing, and why people who hate it would bother watching this.

But, I actually like the second season more than the first. The first season was so hard to get through and really didn't pick up until the halfway point. This seasons has had my attention from the get go.

That pretty much describes all the anime I've ever seen, actually.
