However I do think it's possible to dislike someone as a person but think the character is interesting - which I think is the case for Cersei. My favourite part about Game of Thrones is the characters, because I think they're amazing, even though so many of them are horrible people.
So I would argue Cersei is a shitty person, but a great character - and in a wa I really like that we have this incredible flawed, messed-up woman, who is also a multi-layered, as an important character on a popular show.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 12:37 am (UTC)(link)One character I've always felt is of a similar mold is Light Yagami from Death Note. He' s an absolutely atrocious human being but a really compelling character.
You can like the character while recognizing that if they were a real person, you'd hate their guts.

In that way I do understand Cersei fans - sometimes it's fun to love a well-written villain. However, based on her deeds alone, is perfectly reasonable to dislike her.
