I wish we could get the idea of "finding a character interesting means you must like and approve of everything they do" out of fandom, because it's really stupid. Do I like Cersei, as in do I like the things she does and want to be friends with her? Hell no! Most of the time, I wanna strangle her. But do I find her a fascinating character with a compelling backstory I want to see to the end? Hell yes! I may cheer when she dies, but I still want to see how it ends because George RR Martin did a pretty good job in crafting her character. As loathsome as she is, you can see how she wound up where she wound up in life.

TBF that is a line that is crossed by fans of character and non-fans of characters alike. there are certainly Cersei stans who do conflate those two stances, and who do turn into total apologists. it's not something externally fabricated. people are bad at keeping that distinction in general.

Yep. I completely understand her feelings regarding the fact that she as the oldest child should be the heir, but she isn't cause of her gender. That sucks and probably screws someone as ambitious as her up -plus having an abusive husband.
On the other side, that's no damn excuse for having countless babies and children killed (or some of the stuff she did as a child, which really shows that she hasn't been a good person for a very long time).
Basically, I kinda get where she comes from, but damn I don't approve of the stuff she does.
