...looks like I need to finally watch Supernatural.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. It's only the blonde's 2nd appearance, and the brunette only shows up every once in a blue moon. Just watch Hibbing 911 to see all of the lady buddy cop goodness. And maybe episodes from s9, The Purge (Donna's first ep, but it's not spectacular) and Alex Annie Alexis Ann (which was Jodie's appearance before this one, and actually a good episode).

Sheriff Jody Mills is utterly awesome, and Donna has proved to be just as awesome. Sheriff Jody first appeared in season five. You can find the list here, if you just wanna watch her. :)

Thanks, man! Much obliged!

They're only in one episode together. As someone who slogged through the whole series just to get to Felicia Day's episodes, I'd recommend getting an episode rec list from a trusted source. Or you could just watch the episodes with significant female characters -- they rarely keep one around long so there aren't that many episodes. Jo Harvelle (Alona Tal) was in three episodes, plus has minor appearances in four more: Everybody Loves a Clown (2006), Simon Said (2006), No Exit (2006), Born Under a Bad Sign (2007), Good God, Y'All (2009), Abandon All Hope (2009), and Defending Your Life (2011). Charlie Bradbury (Felicia Day) was in four: The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo (2012), LARP and the Real Girl (2013), Pac-Man Fever (2013), and Slumber Party (2013). Jody Mills (from the secret) was in a whopping nine episodes, and Donna (also from the secret) was in two. Watching 200+ episodes just for good female characters is frustratingly dull. I know from experience. But if you find Dean as unlikeable as I find him, you might enjoy the fan-hated episode in which he mind melds with a dog, because it was terrible in all the best ways. (Dog Dean Afternoon in season 9)

I really appreciate you typing up this list, anon. Sounds like it'll save me one hell of a headache.

You're forgetting all the female villains. Meg 1 in season 1, Ruby 1 & Bela in season three, Ruby 2 in season 4, Meg 2 in season 5-7, Naomi in season 8 and Abaddon in season 8-9.

Even Meg and Ruby don't have that many episodes, and the female villains are treated much worse than the other female characters, who are already treated relatively poorly.

Naomi was my favorite. If you added up all of her screen time I doubt you'd have a full forty minutes.
