Which console? PS4 and Xbox One have the best reviews, the game was basically made to be played with a controller. PS3 and Xbox 360 have been less well-received, I've seen complaints of underwhelming graphics, corrupt save files, etc.

The vast majority of players aren't having issues playing it on 360, but it does suck if you turn out to be one of the unlucky few (I am, on PC, which is up there with PS3 and 360 on complaints). Assuming it works fine, if you're not expecting premiere graphics (in comparison to the other platforms, by itself the game scales really well, I've played it on my PC on low quality and still liked it) and are prepared for some minor irritating glitchy shit here and there, chances are you'll be sinking a ton of hours into the game that justifies a $40 purchase. It compares well to the first two entries, a little weak on story and combat but certainly not bad, still very strong on characters and setting. I'd definitely recommend it, but I admit I wish I'd waited longer for it to be more stable.

It's basically on m Christmas list and I'm sort of torn - I tend to bu games second-hand because I think they're sort of expensive, but on the pother hand - spoilers will be seeping in, and I sort of want to play it early on.

Story being weaker will bug me, but I also really enjoy character interactions and combat.

Story doesn't measure up to Origins, but then very little does, to me, I'd say it's still stronger than most RPGs. Yeah, I've already been accidentally spoiled, once right on this comm 'cause I was dumb, so that's a good reason to grab it soon, there's a few heart-rending plot moments that are best encountered blind.
