Do you know the best way to deal with someone resisting arrest? Unless they are actively posing a mortal danger to members of the public, let them go. Then at 4am the next morning turn up at their house with a dozen uniforms and arrest them while they are still sleepy. You also get a chance to check out whatever has been left "in plain view" the night before so add a few more things to the charge sheet.

That is how a professional police service does things. Your way is just a thug beating up on a member of the public. If you are a police officer, please fill out your resignation papers ASAP. With the equipment and resources available to modern police services, any force which leaves someone dead is excessive.

You live in a dreamworld if you ever think the solution to resisiting arrest for non-violent offences, for any force in the world is ever going to be 'let them go, and find them later'.

And that's the case for very good reasons.
