(Anonymous) 2014-12-20 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)I have a brain problem that makes it hard for me to watch TV or movies for long periods. I get dizzy and tired. It's just no fun.
When I'm talking with friends and they discuss the last movie they've seen I invariably say "oh, I read the book but I haven't seen the movie" and go on from that. Sometimes I can tell they think I'm being pretentious or trying to get one up on them. I'm really not.
I wish I could just kick back and enjoy hours of TV at night like everyone else seems to be able to. It's okay at first, then it becomes too much like punishment to be fun.
So I get you, OP. Even though my problem is switched around. My main problem is that I can never join TV fandoms where there's a lot of episodes, so it's not too bad.
Like you, I mostly lie about it. It's too embarrassing to admit I have trouble sitting and watching TV when even a child can do that!
