You won't get any judgement from me.

All I really have to say is to remember that often there is a lot of info in some book-to-movie fandoms that can only be found in the books. These days it's easier to get that info in fandom wikis, so if you're unsure about details, you can check those without having to bury yourself in the books themselves.

(This comes from me being a LotR fan who found vast tracts of canon information that isn't even in The Silmarillion, because that book was basically an abridged tale.)
