Characters in published works fully belong to authors. Characters in fandom are mine. I know them, I have headcanons and I like them. It hurts to see them hurt. I'm pro warning even for a canon death. It's a considerate thing to do.

The point is they don't belong to fic writters either. Anyway, it's not logic, it's emotions. I care about my favorite characters and that's all there's to it.
