Have you ever seen the play "Corpus Christi"?

It's a 20th century retelling of the life of Christ, just moved from the middle east to Corpus Christi, Texas, where Jesus is still Jesus--son of God, gatherer of disciples, friend and champion of the downtrodden, Savior of mankind and all that jazz--except the reason for his persecution is changed from his Jewish heritage to his homosexuality.

He and Judas have a rather passionate romantic love that (of course) eventually is Jesus' undoing, and it's all rather sad and tragic, but really interesting to watch.

A nice twist on the usual passion play, if you can manage to find it.

I haven't seen it, but I've read it! I found it a bit muddled, but I think that was just a byproduct of reading when it was intended to be watched.
