Aww man, I'm sorry you're sick, and it always sucks having to work on the holidays. :( Hopefully you'll at least feel better by Christmas! I hope you enjoy the fics when you get around to them; I've seen a surprising amount of good stuff on AO3, and there's plenty to go around.

I'm actually feeling better after a lot of warm blankets and tea. I've rinsed the kink meme for good fills, so I was all yayyyy about seeing new stuff to read. And Fenris arm-wrestling the Iron Bull made me stupidly happy.

And now I'm off to write fanfiction of my own after a long day.

I am pleased to hear the blankets and tea helped! No one should be sick near Christmas. ~~Well, no one should be sick ever but being sick at Christmas is somehow even worse.~~ If you're still chillaxing under some warm blankets with tea I encourage you to have a brownie, or a slice of pie, or, idk, anything good because that tends to make some feel a bit better too!

I haven't 'kept up' with the kink meme, but I have read some wonderful fills there. I'm glad it seems to be pretty active. (Fenris arm-wrestling Iron Bull should've made it into the game. Maybe into DA4. :p)

I am indeed writing Dragon Age, because what else? Probably being a bit overly ambitious, but I'm writing an Inquisition fill where all the DA2 companions turn up. For this prompt:

I should be writing original fiction for money but I'm so, so obsessed with DA:I right now. Plus, I crave DA2 cameos so hard. I'm in the middle of a Blackwall/Sebastian thing too but I know age difference isn't everyone's cup of tea so I won't link it.

One of the biggest disappointments for me was the dearth of DA2 cameos. I did enjoy the mentions, but of course that isn't exactly the same as seeing the characters again in person. I would've loved if Hawke would've brought his/her LI along (at least), but sort of understand why they didn't make an appearance. This isn't exactly new for DA.

Oh god, I love the idea of Dorian flirting with Fenris but I'm not sure I can see it going anywhere, and Fenris/Anders is not for me so I probably won't be reading your fill, but the idea of all the DA2 companions showing up def interests me. I hope more people run with it!

I've been playing Dragon Age for like...the last four months (went through the other games again before Inquisition) so I have a problem as well. I won't judge you for writing fanfic.

Actually, despite not liking Sebastian all that much...is the Blackwall/Sebastian fic smut? I would probably read it, haha. I might check it out when you post it!

I'm still kinda hoping there will be some with the additional content the developers are talking about. I'm pathetic, haha. Although I'd also love to see another companion DLC - like Shale's or Sebastian's. And I'd by the hell out of additional party banter, companion quests, or something like the Citadel DLC for Mass Effect. I love the companions far too much.

No worries. I totally understand Anders/Fenris not being everyone's cup of tea. Although I will be focusing on Dorian flirting most likely. I'm burned out on Anders smut, there was so much of it.

Yea, IA. Maybe it's because I exhausted everyone's conversation ASAP, but I didn't feel like we got as many scenes or conversations with most of the companions this time around. Cullen and Cass both had wonderful arcs and I felt like they were handled perfectly, but others...I felt like I hardly knew. (Especially Vivienne...her companion quest came out of left field, imo. I feel like we didn't get any real growth from her.) Despite this the cast of Inquisition is one of my favorite BioWare casts and I'm extremely fond of most of them, but I would be all for some new dialogue, cutscenes, story or companion missions, etc.

Dorian is the best to flirt with. Even as a woman I can't resist flirting with him. I have a soft spot for people who love flirting with everyone, even if they're just having fun. Dorian would def be a hoot to be around; I'm glad everyone seems to adore him so much!

Hahaha, again, I won't judge! I wasn't raised Catholic but I sure know what it's like being raised by parents who aren't comfortable with sexuality, so I grew up rather naive. Now I have such a filthy mind... Maybe I'm overcompensating.

I agree, Vivienne got short thrift. I didn't like her much at first because I felt like I hardly knew her, there was so little opportunity to interact. And when I did she disapproved of everything I said. Her banter with Iron Bull is golden, though.

I've loved all the companions for all three games. It's sad but they seem so alive to me. I probably get too invested in their personal struggles. Bioware have outdone themselves with DA:I. And Blackwall looks a lot like my partner, so I get a bit giddy every time I see him on-screen.

I love, love, love Dorian BUT I can't decide whether Cole or Cassandra are my favourite. They're both so adorable. Speaking of Dorian, I found another amazing fic by one of my favourite fic authors.

Dorian/Iron Bull. Dealing with Dorian's issues with his father. It's, I dunno, do you ever read something so well-written it kinda hurts that you'll never be that brilliant?

Yessssss, her banter with Bull is some of the best I've heard in the game. His fear and respect of her delights me, it's just a shame she didn't have more character development; she always felt like she was there just to improve her station, and it didn't do anything for me.

I have favorites, but I don't think there's a single Dragon Age companion I don't like in some way. All in all I feel like the casts are really well rounded. I loved the cast of 2 as well, but 2 felt like a darker game in some respects so I don't always feel as 'giddy' thinking of them. Doesn't mean I love them any less, though. (I actually prefer DA2 to Inquisition in some ways, though I love the casts from both.) BioWare excels at creating interesting characters! (And aww, that's cute about Blackwall. NGL, the first time I saw Blackwall in game I went, "holy shit, how are you so attractive?!" There's something very striking about him, so...congrats?)

Cole does have a looooooot of great dialogue with the other characters, and is too adorable for words. He's really sweet. Cass is too; I was shocked at how much I grew to love her and at how close her and the Inquisitor grew. She felt like one of my truest friends. Personally, I have a hard time choosing between Bull, Solas, Cass and Dorian...and of course I still love Varric. This game confuses me.

This sounds painful in the best possible way. I look forward to reading it! ♥ (That personal quest was amazing. Terrible, but amazing. Kudos to BioWare for how they handled Dorian and his father.)

Dragon Age 2 was definitely a lot darker. The ending was a real gut-punch. And, oh man, poor Justice. He was my favourite in Awakening. I still have so many questions so I hope we'll get some closure on that whole thing in later games.

Yeah, I've liked all the companions too. I know people strongly loathe a lot of them but I like anyone who's interesting. In fiction, anyway.

I just watched a few Youtube videos of the companions leaving if the Inquisitor pisses them off and, oh man. My heart :(

And thank you for this discussion. Feels good to have someone to properly fangirl over Dragon Age with. My partner hasn't played it yet. He's playing Assassin's Creed: Unity atm.

Yeaaa, I really enjoyed both Justice and Anders in Awakening and didn't have the same disdain for the Anders/Justice storyline a lot of people did. (Despite it being, well, depressing as hell; I thought it was an interesting story and was realistic in how a person (and/or spirit) could change.) It was devastating for sure, but even so I still liked the Anders romance a lot for how connected to the story it was. When I replayed DA2 recently I almost romanced Anders again, but at the last minute I went “Nope” because I wasn't in the mood for something that heavy. Oh, Dragon Age, you and your tragedy...

I can see why people might not like some of them; there are certain ones I'm not crazy fond of, but the great thing about BioWare games is that if you spend your time with each character, there's always at least a little something that shows them to be more than you expect. (Like we were talking about Viv and Bull.)

Right? The Inquisitor punching Dorian and Solas made me genuinely angry, haha, I wanted to punch THEM. Leave my bb's alone! (But seriously, I have such an impossible time being cruel to my companions, I love them too much. I can be snarky, even slightly rude on occasion if I'm playing a certain way, but I love everyone too much. Even when I went renegade in ME I was always helping my crew as much as possible, and encouraging them.)

Lol, that hairy exterior. I love the beard, it's a great look for him. He has such a wonderful face too. I think he must be fun to romance; he has layers! (Like an onion, etc etc.)

You're very welcome! If I've talked too much I apologize, I just really love chatting about Dragon Age. The person I usually discuss it with hasn't played yet, so I'm just mentioning it here on f!s constantly in the hopes someone wants to discuss it, haha. If you ever want to chat again, you know where I am! (I need to watch Unity, since I don't own it... I hope your bf finishes so he can play DA. Maybe then you can bond over your favourites.)

I know a lot of people were outraged over Anders' and Justice's story arc but it felt like a natural progression to me. Anders became less selfish after working with the wardens, Justice was already outraged by the plight of the mages. The fact that it went horribly wrong is, well, par for the course with messing with the Fade. We've seen it time and time again over the course of the story. I have such a thing for tragic heroes. People who in trying to do good ruin everything and have to atone.

Conversations with Cole and Solas make me wonder if Justice could eventually separate from Anders and take his own form, and return to being just Justice. Or if serving causes that were actually just, rather than Anders' anger, would make him more moderate again.

I actually reeled away from the screen, like I'd been punched at that Solas video. He was being kind of a jackass, I suppose, but not anything I feel warranted an actual punch in the face.

Haha, I was worrying that I was talking too much. You can't shut me up once I get started. Clearly. :D
