What kind of extra fees were there? I've never done an all-inclusive resort myself, but yeah, I'd figure all-inclusive means I don't have to pay for more. Was it in the fine print, or was this just something that got sprung on you after you arrived? In which case I would probably leave reviews indicating what happened.

I've done the package deal once before, about four years back. At the time there were no extra fees for checked luggage if it was below a certain weight, so I packed fairly light this time as well, but apparently this airline charges for checked luggage regardless. You're allowed to have one personal item for free so at least I didn't have to pay for my backpack as a carry on item. The resort was pretty good though, as far as no hidden charges sprung on you there (room, food and drinks are included, so as long as you don't make any outside calls from the room or order a movie or room service you're good), they tell you during check in which services are included with the package.

I suppose it's partly my own fault for not researching it better beforehand, but I (wrongly, it turns out) assumed all airlines operate the same way. I did leave a pretty unfavorable review on Yelp, but mostly to make myself feel better as the airline has some staunch supporters on there, but eh, to each their own. I know I'm not going to be flying with Spirit again.
