Why can't they, though? What's wrong with a comment like, "I don't eat steak myself but if I did, I'd cook them at least medium because it's healthier"? If you believed you had a good solution for people looking to purchase music, I'd like to hear it even if you personally don't want any.

Honestly, your insistence that we can state opinions based on other people's experience is weird as hell because people on FS do it all the time. "I'm not even in that fandom but from your description that pairing sounds unhealthy!" "I don't personally like gen fic but I wouldn't mind seeing more people write it."
