Hmm, I kind of get this. There's certainly some works that could give humanity some humility, and let the wonders of the setting speak for themselves instead of framing them as something for humans to conquer.

I feel like that's not really what OP's saying. I'd love a work that's set like that - where the focus is on exploration and appreciation and not conquering. But OP's nihilistic outlook is just depressing to me. :/

I guess that for me there's just no distinction, lol. A way I could explain it is that I have a fascination for giant animals and monsters-- that giant monster can swallow people whole, and I find that amazing. I mean, it blows for whoever gets eaten, but I find the might of nature and the universe to be wondrous.
