I guess they don't. But this seems to be bitching on the scale of "how dare you like stuff I don't" rather than, IDK, being the change they want to see. There's a whole realm of dark fantasy and dark SF that's not all "rah rah humanity, not to mention horror.

I read fiction to be entertained, and stories that say "hey, you suck and are insignificant" don't entertain me. To each their own, I guess.

Take Blakes7 for example, that's a pessimistic story. Or, idk, even Tolkien where elfs and basically every other race are cooler than humans.

And +1 to OP looking kinda pretentious here due to wording which seems overcomplicated. Maybe it's just me.
