I definitely thought it sounded like something from My Immortal (of which I've read parts, but not all) but I didn't see any connection to the secret.

Apparently though Bombadil made an appearance? if so that would make sense, yes

Yep, you can search it in the linked chapter (it's misspelled, of course, as "Bombodil"). She also calls him "Tom Andorson" later on. Meanwhile, "Tom Rid" is a completely different person...
