Is there a particular reason you're cutting out more than half of the available media for fiction? I mean to each their own, but the way you worded it made it sound like it was more than just "this isn't my cup of tea".

What I'm looking for in SF and fantasy is not a concatenation of catastrophes or an exposition of man's inhumanity to man. My interests are probably best illustrated by this essay (http://www.amoxtli.org/cuezali/wicca.html) contrasting Eclectic Wicca with Aztec reconstructionism, particularly the section labeled "The Gods." Most SF and fantasy--in fact, most *fiction* I've read--leans much more closely to the Wiccan side in terms of morals and aesthetics, whereas I'm eager for something that reminds me more of the Aztec beliefs and practices the writer describes. That comparison may sound strange, but it's the closest analogue to the dichotomy I'm describing.

The reason I tend to reject the media listed in the secret is that I don't want a long-term relationship with any of them. (Read Neil Postman's AMUSING OURSELVES TO DEATH for more on that.) Also, the superhero genre seems to have co-opted the entertainment industry *and* the greatest portion of SF fandom in the twenty-first century. I have no dislike of comic books as a medium; I'm not just interested in superheroes. Lastly, I respond better to non-visual media than visual media. If I was too harsh in stating my lack of interest in television, superhero comics, and the like, it was because every time someone makes a secret asking about fiction that would fill a certain niche in the secret-maker's mind, people respond with recommendations, and I wanted to preempt responses of "You simply *must* binge watch all seven seasons of this series."
