it's possibly going to ruin the movie for me (i mean, if nothing else does). but i'm still holding out that maybe it has a different purpose, like it's not a crossguard but actually has some utility that has nothing to do with sword fighting. i mean, more than one person had to approve it, right?

Don't be an idiot and let a lightsaber design ruin an entire movie for you. Let the plot do it, or the characterization, or if the Holy Three were somehow sacrificed on the altar of lens flares and shaky cameras and shrill new characters we're going to end up hating because they're not Han, Leia and Luke. But not the design of the hilt of a lightsaber. Come on.

well, i'm being sort of hyperbolic (sort of?), so don't worry, i'll let those things do it as well. i'm more just banking on the point that if jj abrams thinks *that* is a good idea, god knows what else we're in store for.

People are seriously going overboard with the lightsaber thing. Then again I should not be surprised...this is fandom, after all.
