Re: Types of Characters/Character Tropes You Hate

I dislike really obnoxious characters that you're supposed to find likable or quirky, but I sometimes like them if they're written as antagonists and if other characters besides the protagonists don't inexplicably find them likable. One example I can think of at the moment is Councilman Jeremy Jamm from Parks and Rec. The dude is a total dick who is gross to the max, but I actually like him as a character. Even though he manages to swindle people into rallying against Leslie with him, it doesn't seem like many people genuinely like him as a person which is good because I hate it when characters are total douchebags and still manage to be popular/well-liked. I think I also like him just because I pity him a bit because he's clearly a pretty lonely dude who is desperate for companionship (to the point where he seems to genuinely consider Leslie one of his best friends even though he does nothing but antagonize her and she is understandably disgusted by him). I know a lot of people didn't like his character, but I thought he was kind of fun
