It's a very specific kind of bullies/villians who think you should be grateful to them when they're "nice". They're so wrapped up in their own ego that they pity themselves for being "driven" to being assholes.

Normally it's shown as stupid/funny in canon, but somehow fandom always manages to ship them with their victims- change around the roles so they can WALLOW in the misguided woobie feelings of self pity. Make the victims the baddies or the ones who indulge them with sex and adoration.

Eridan with erifef and erisol are the biggest example. It happens with Vriska too, but luckily not in my circle.
