Love interests who act like total jerks, but gradually thaw as the protagonist gets closer to them. I find the male "bad boy" more irritating than the female "tsundere", but neither seems particularly worth getting to know any further, let alone dating.

For me it depends hugely on the degree of jerkiness. I love that stuff when it's characters who are just sarcastic grumps, but I agree it sucks when they're jerks.

yeah, this. if they were really jerks, no amount of following niceness of them warming up to the people THEY have been jerks to can redeem them to me.
