Re: Another officer shooting in Missouri...

was it proven that he was armed? i watched three different angled videos and i couldn't tell and the officer's body cam and cruiser cam weren't recording.

If he made moves that indicated he had a gun and was going to shoot it, it does not matter to me whether he had a gun or not. All that matters is if the officer believes he had a gun and was going to shoot. You don't do that, you don't make sudden 'gun aiming' moves to a fucking cop days after two police officers were gunned down in their patrol car. It's suicidal.

from what i saw, it didn't really look like he made a gun aiming move. or rather, he pointed at the officer, but it looked very much like how someone would...point at another person.

but like i said, the camera angles were shit. there's all kind of stuff flying around about this one, like how the cops didn't call an ambulance and he died on the pavement and stuff like that. i would really like to be able to sift through facts vs bullshit but i didn't have enough time today.

As soon as I saw one of the "THIS IS RACISM!!!!" points being "They put his body in the back of an SUV like he isn't even human" I lost all ability to care. Do these idiots think all coroners use hearses?? Because I have news for them.

So what you're saying is that your limit for caring about human life is someone making a comment on the Internet that annoys you.

DA

I think what the other anon is saying is that when people start LOOKING for things to get angry at, some may call them excuses, the typical person reading about their instant, self-righteous outrage can get damn near numb from all the vitriol.

The vitriol's annoying, sure, but it's still a matter of huge public interest and concern.

No, i was repsonding to the anon above me. I meant, "I lost all ability to care about puzzling out the truth." Because I am not going to get it. Tumblr/twitter is focused so much on RACISMMMMMMMMM!!!!! that it doesn't matter what facts come out, it'll still be a white asshole gunning down a innocent black teen. I mean, really, "They put him in the back of an SUV....LIKE AN ANIMAL!"

i understand. there are kneejerk reactions on both sides and jumping the gun (whoops) like that helps no one. police misconduct does need to be addressed but at the same time, civilian misconduct also needs to be addressed.

Here's a link:

It sounds pretty clear to me, but I'm sure there will be others along any time now that will say different.

thank you. i'm upset over police brutality as much as anyone else and i think cops need to be held accountable but the accountability goes both ways and i think some people forget that.

that's the video i was. i hate the angle of it; i can't really tell what's going on. i do see a man raising his arm but. hmm. i wish the officer had been wearing his chest cam.

I think it's going to be a required thing from now on, honestly. And it can only be a good thing.

i absolutely agree. it can protect civilians from police misconduct and police from false accusations.
