Now I'm curious about how many Jewish folks there ARE in Japan. Can't be many-- the country is (IIRC) still primarily Shinto with Buddhism not far behind.

Huh, according to Wikipedia (when I went to see if it was Shinto or Buddhism that was dominant), there are 2000 practicing Jews in Japan. That's bupkis.

Japan does hold a dear place in many Jewish hearts because of the actions of Sugihara Chiune, an incredible man that risked everything to evacuate thousands of Jews from Lithuania and Poland by giving them visas to Japan. Most of the Jewish people Sugihara helped went from there on to Israel or the US, but his actions will be forever remembered.

That's more than I was expecting, but I guess it's still a tiny amount considering there are 100+ million people in Japan.

That's certainly an interesting choice of character for this secret, OP. I don't really expect there to ever be more representation, though, since it's not very common--and thus less understood--in Japan compared to other religions.

(For those not familiar, that's Judau Ashta from Gundam ZZ. He's not actually Jewish as far as I can recall, so OP is really just making a pun.)
