+1. Is this a new experience in TV/film fandoms for you, though? I ask because I've tried out TV fandoms for several years now and I wonder if that's always been the case for them, with some exceptions. Especially for stuff like sitcoms, which don't necessarily require an audience that's particularly focused on deep discussions. I was in one for a dramedy, and while the people at the comm seemed nice, when they did discuss non-celebrity stuff it was still pretty simplistic. (In one episode, a character was dating a married man, and at the end a woman was seeing spying on them. One member of the comm? "Ooh I bet that was his wife." You think? That was about as deep as it got there.)
