So your anecdotal evidence beats mine?

That wasn't what they were saying at all.

"or anecdotal evidence based on one's own experience is insufficient proof of one's argument."

They're saying anecdotal evidence doesn't work, because different people's experiences will conflict.

Their anecdotal evidence doesn't beat yours, but it's as reasonable for them to base their social interactions on their anecdotal evidence over yours as it is for you to keep on doing what you do rather than switching to their model of interaction.

We're talking about avoiding a specific subset of a subgroup of a subculture here. This is not a social justice issue, a sign of personal dysfunction, or a political statement.

Since you need it spelled out, the point is that everyone has their own personal anecdotal evidence, so thinking that your own anecdotal evidence counts as valid proof or that it will convince anyone suggests you are either painfully naive or scientifically illiterate.
