(Anonymous) 2014-12-27 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)Forgot to put "since there are others who do it for free" in that last sentence.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-27 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)Not to mention that some writers get resentful if you find more than a very small number of spelling or grammatical mistakes in their writings. (Hey, I didn't put them there...)

(Anonymous) 2014-12-27 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah, that's what I thought. I'm starting to save up, so it would be awesome if I could make some money off my one and only talent, but oh well. There are other things I can do. Maybe some of those paid survey sites are still around...I miss Lightspeed though, that was the best and it's definitely gone.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-27 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)Be very careful with those survey sites, most of them are scams.
Most of the existing sites that do pay for surveys include other stuff (like micro-tasks), but unless you're in the right country you may not have that many surveys available and the other options they offer takes longer and pays less.
(Why, yes, I needed the money and got into many stuff online but the result was disappointing)

(Anonymous) 2014-12-27 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)Not only that, but writers usually do beta for each other in return, and half the learning process is in doing beta back.
Paying for an editor for your fanfic seems like a quick-fix solution that ultimately might hold a writer back. However, if the paid editor was quick and reliable, I see the attraction if the writer needed a beta really fast for a fest or something. Or if they were just really lazy and/or clueless, which I fear would be the largest category.
