I'm in the same situation, and no, I'm not in denial about my artistic abilities, because my very first crappy pictures from years ago got a ton of reblogs.

I can only assume that our taste in art is different from most people's.

Perhaps the fandom has moved location, leaving you behind? Or that particular fandom was starved for art back then, so you got more reblogs purely for that?

I've not seen your art and I'm not trying to be rude. One of my own fics got a lot of attention way back, only because of timing. If I went by fic comments alone, my fics have been getting worse ever since, when it's much more down to factors like timing, fandom splitting up, more fics for that pairing being available now, and so on.

No, my fandom is homestuck and I drew popular characters. I just moved on to draw from life rather than fanart.

But aren't the Homestuck characters originally unrealistic? If you're now drawing from real life, it's a kind of AU, so I'd understand why you might have gotten less popular.

Also, the Homestuck fandom is way smaller than it was.

I meant that thesubject of my art has changed from fanart to original art.

DA

Unfortunately, trying to build traction for original work (especially if you began to be noticed thanks to fanart) is a very slow and laborious process.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-28 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
that explains it then. It's even harder to get recognition for original art than fanart.
