(Anonymous) 2014-12-28 02:25 am (UTC)(link)It depends on what language is your home language. I work in my campus' Writing Center, and I see mostly ELL clients. The ones who grew up speaking languages like Spanish had a relatively easy time learning it (even though there are still some pretty tricky things) compared to people who grew up speaking, just for example, Vietnamese which is extremely different than English and tends to cause a lot of issues for some people (among other things, tenses are a huge issue because Vietnamese doesn't use them remotely the same way that English and other languages do).
